Amy Chea

Amy Chea is an economics alumini. She currently works for Fidelity Canada as Quality Assurance Analyst.

Q: Why did you choose to study Economics?

A: Originally I was in the Science and Business program at Waterloo. After about 2 years of being in the program, I realized how unmotivated I was about the science half of the program. I enjoyed the business side of things a lot more, which was more Economics focused. I decided to make the switch in third year and I really believe it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Akshita Verma

Akshita Verma is an economics alumni. She recently just graduated from UW and this fall will be pursuing a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Toronto. She was also previously the co-president of the UW Economics Society.

Q: Why did you choose to study Economics?

A: Ever since high school, I had an interest in learning about different aspects of the economy and what dictates individual behaviour. I took a few economics courses in high school and that’s when I knew I wanted to pursue economics.

Undergraduate Feature: Christina Salomone

Christina Salomone is a 3rd year Mathematical Economics, Computing Option co-op student. She is also one of the current co-presidents of the UW Economics Society.

Q: Why did you choose to study economics? 

A: My interest in economics started after taking a grade 12 economics course in high school. Before then, I didn’t know much about the subject. After taking this course, I realized that it is something I was very interested in pursing. I also have a passion for mathematics and computer science, and I am happy that being in the Mathematical Economics program with a Computing Option allows me to study all these subjects! I think studying economics helps you understand the world more as it plays a role in our every day lives. It also gives you a wide range of career opportunities after graduation.
